The Everest Base Camp trek takes adventurers through the heart of the Himalayas, culminating at the foot of Everest. This iconic route offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and serene glacial lakes. Along the way, trekkers witness towering mountains such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Pumori. The trail includes crossing ancient stone walls and colorful suspension bridges adorned with Buddhist prayer flags. Trekkers also visit Tengboche Monastery, one of the region’s most important Buddhist sites, and ascend to Kala Patthar (5,540m), offering mesmerizing mountain views.

As trekkers approach Everest Base Camp, the terrain becomes more demanding, with steep climbs and rocky paths. The final ascent rewards adventurers with panoramic views of the Khumbu Icefall—the daunting path climbers take on their way to the summit. Day 01 :

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (1,400m) and Transfer to Hotel

Your journey begins with your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Upon landing, you will be greeted by a local representative who will assist with your transfer to your hotel. After checking in, you can relax and unwind after your flight. If time permits, explore the bustling streets of Thamel, a popular area filled with shops, cafes, and cultural experiences. A pre-trek briefing will be conducted in the evening to discuss the upcoming adventure.

Day 02 :

Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m) and Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

A short 35-minute scenic flight takes you to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Upon landing, you will meet your trekking crew and prepare to embark on the trail. The trek to Phakding is a gentle introduction to the region, taking you through lush forests, traditional villages, and alongside the Dudh Koshi River. You will stay overnight in a teahouse at Phakding, soaking in the serene surroundings.

Day 03 :

Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

The trek begins with a pleasant walk through pine forests, crossing several suspension bridges draped with prayer flags. You’ll pass small villages and encounter views of Thamserku Peak before reaching Monjo, the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. After obtaining permits, the trail becomes steeper as you ascend toward Namche Bazaar, a vibrant trading hub and the largest settlement in the Khumbu region. Overnight at Namche.

Day 04 :

Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar

Today is set aside for acclimatization to help your body adjust to the altitude. A short hike to the Everest View Hotel offers breathtaking panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and surrounding peaks. On the way, you can visit the Syangboche airstrip and the Khumjung village. After the hike, return to Namche Bazaar to explore its local markets, cafes, and museums.

Day 05 :

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m)

The trail ascends and descends through rhododendron forests, offering stunning mountain views along the way. After crossing the Dudh Koshi River, a steep climb leads to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery. This spiritual site is surrounded by awe-inspiring peaks such as Ama Dablam. Attend the evening prayer session at the monastery for a unique cultural experience.

Day 06 :

Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410m)

Leaving Tengboche, the trail descends through forests before crossing the Imja Khola. As you ascend higher, the landscape transforms into alpine terrain with sparse vegetation. Passing through Pangboche, you’ll eventually reach Dingboche, a charming village nestled among towering mountains. Spend the evening acclimatizing and enjoying the views.

Day 07 :

Acclimatization Day at Dingboche

Another acclimatization day is planned to prepare for higher altitudes. A hike to Nangkartsang Peak (5,083m) offers spectacular vistas of Makalu, Lhotse, and Island Peak. After the hike, return to Dingboche to rest and explore the village.

Day 08 :

Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910m)

The trek to Lobuche takes you past the Thukla Pass, where you’ll find a memorial site honoring climbers who lost their lives on Everest. The trail becomes rockier as you ascend, with stunning views of peaks like Pumori and Nuptse. Lobuche is a small settlement with limited accommodation, so rest well in preparation for the challenging days ahead.

Day 09 :

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Back to Gorakshep (5,190m)

Today is one of the most anticipated days of the trek. After an early start, you’ll trek to Gorakshep, a temporary stop before heading to Everest Base Camp. The trail becomes more challenging, navigating through rocky moraine paths. Upon reaching Everest Base Camp, soak in the surreal atmosphere and views of the Khumbu Icefall. Afterward, return to Gorakshep for the night.

Day 10 :

Hike to Kala Patthar (5,555m) and Descend to Pheriche (4,240m)

An early morning hike to Kala Patthar provides breathtaking views of the Everest sunrise and panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks. After savoring the moment, you’ll descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and then continue descending to Pheriche, a lower-altitude village with warmer conditions and lush surroundings.

Day 11 :

Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Retracing your steps, you’ll descend through alpine terrain, forests, and rivers. The trek back to Namche Bazaar is long but offers another chance to enjoy the scenery. Upon arrival, rest and celebrate your successful journey with fellow trekkers.

Day 12 :

Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840m)

The final day of trekking takes you back to Lukla, passing familiar trails and villages. Reflect on the journey as you walk alongside the Dudh Koshi River. Once in Lukla, enjoy your last night in the Everest region with your trekking team.

Day 13 :

Fly Back to Kathmandu

A morning flight from Lukla brings you back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring Kathmandu’s cultural landmarks, such as Swayambhunath Stupa or Pashupatinath Temple.

Day 14 :

Final Departure

Your adventure concludes as you check out of your hotel and head to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey. Take with you unforgettable memories of the Himalayas and the warm hospitality of Nepal.

How to avoid altitude sickness during the EBC trek ?

To avoid altitude sickness during the Everest base camp trek, it’s crucial to ascend gradually, allowing time for acclimatization and avoiding rapid altitude gain. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol helps the body adjust better. A balanced diet rich in carbohydrates provides the necessary energy for trekking at high altitude. Trekking medication like Diamox if necessary. It’s important to recognize early symptoms such as headache, dizziness and nausea if they worsen descending immediately can serious complication.

What is the Luggage weight limit for the Lukla flight ?

The luggage weight limit for flights to Lukla is 15 kg per passenger which include 10 kg of checked baggage and 5 kg of hand carry.

Are there showers available ?

Yes, showers are available along the Everest Base Camp trek mainly in tea houses, Lower elevations offer hot showers, while higher altitude have bucket shower with heated water.

What if my flight to and from Lukla is canceled or delayed ?

Flight delays and cancellation to and from Lukla are fairly common due to unpredictable mountain weather and changing visibility condition. If your Lukla flight is cancelled or delayed we recommend allowing extra buffer days in your Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary or other Himalayan travel plans, especially if you have international flight connection. In such cases, airlines typically rebook passengers based on the original and flight order and our team will assist you with the process. For extended delays, helicopter from Lukla to Kathmandu may be available at an additional cost, depending on weather and availability. If you are required to stay longer in Lukla or Kathmandu, we can help arrange comfortable accommodations. To avoid unexpected expenses we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers flight delays and cancellations due to weather conditions in the Himalayas

Can I take a helicopter to Everest Base Camp?

Yes, you can take helicopter to Everest Base Camp and it’s a popular option for those who want to experience the Everest region without doing the full trek.

Can i use ATMs or Credit Cards in Everest Base Camp?

ATMs and Credit Cards facilities are very limited in the Everest region. You won’t find ATMs beyond Lukla and most lodges and shops only accept cash(Nepalese Rupees). It’s essential to carry enough cash with you before starting the trek.
